Far Out

A watch to celebrate the exploration of Mars.

This Mars themed watch was designed by Print Artist, and also our Senior Print Technician, Paul Wardski.

Far Out was inspired by the Perseverance rover that landed on Mars, and the extraordinary footage that it sent back to Earth.

Paul designed Far Out, then mixed the inks and printed each component himself, before passing it over to the assembly team to be made up into watches.

Paul talks about his inspiration:

“When I first saw the images from Mars taken by Perseverance rover I thought, wow, we are actually discovering a whole new alien planet! We’re receiving these real, detailed landscapes images that we could only imagine before.

It’s pretty mind blowing that humans have managed to put a car sized robot on Mars and that’s able to send these beautiful digital landscape images back to us".

How to read the time:

The time on Far Out is displayed in a conventional way, but it uses celestial forms instead of hands.

Read the time by following the moons of Mars:

  • Phobos (the larger moon) shows you the minutes
  • Deimos (the smaller moon) shows you the hour
